Abstract

In a world that evolution is the synonym of life, and change characterizes economy and society, transformation of public administration comes as effect. Public administration and its models are influenced by technological evolution and economy’s growth, as any other social institution. This dissertation is dividend in two distinct parts. The first emphasizes on the different modes and applications of New Public Management, and examines the relationship of administrative well rooted culture and institutions with specific trends of reform. It sets light on the variety of adaptation to managerialism, stresses out the appearance of counter models as the NeoWeberian State. Subsequently reviews the notion of Governance and its context. The core of the analysis stretches the differentiation of the reforms, depending on specific administrative tradition and value system. The second part refers to Greek public administration and illustrates the scale of implementation of certain reform applications and it’s results. The review concludes with an examination of the new administrative program and set forward certain reform proposals pointing out the need of creating a sense of institutional memory in Greek public administration.
