Abstract

The internal control is a significant dimension within the public administration’s operation, the sound organization and functioning of which contribute, on the one hand, to the common interest, on the other hand, to the upgrade and evolution of public structures and delivered services, for the benefit of the administered and, therefore, of the state. The comparative study on the administration’s internal control between Greece and France intends to examine systems and practices, leading to conclusions that demonstrate, amongst others, a trend of convergence in many points, as well as of differentiation, mainly in the internal control’s culture. Besides, under the circumstances of institutional and financial crisis the country is being going through these last years, the active presence and assistance of French experts in the administrative reform have left their print. Working for a most reliable and integrated documentation of the study, there have been examined in a parallel way the legal frame, as well as the content of the various reports of both the Inspection and control bodies in Greece and the General Inspections in France, along with the information in their relevant websites, seeing to their update. Finally, certain suggestions are formulated on the base of the conclusions and generally of the preceding comparison.
