The purpose of this paper is to highlight the priorities that Greece must set, on the
occasion of the adoption of the new European industrial strategy by the European
Commission. To achieve this goal, an analysis of the global megatrends that created the
need for a new European industrial strategy will be attempted first.
Then, the main points of focus of the new industrial strategy for Europe will be presented.
The Commission sets out three key priorities for transforming European industry. These
are maintaining European industry's global competitiveness and a level playing field, both
domestically and globally, achieving Europe's climate neutrality by 2050 and shaping
Europe's digital future.
In the next stages of this paper, the priorities set for Greece by the General Secretariat of
Industry will be determined and the views and proposals of social partners (Hellenic
Federation of Enterprises, Federation of Industries of Greece, Hellenic Confederation of
Professionals, Craftsmen and Merchants) and other industrial entities (“Hellenic
Production”) will be recorded, regarding the direction in which Greece must turn for the
transformation of its industry and its transition to Industry 4.0.
Finally, the issues concerning the industry in the design of the new NSRF will be listed,
i.e., for the programming period 2021-2027. Also, some proposals will be presented
regarding the policy options that Greece should follow during the new programming
period.
