Οι αρχαιολογικοί χώροι σαν εργαλείο προστασίας της Πολιτιστικής Κληρονομιάς και Αειφόρου Ανάπτυξης
Επιτομή
The present work focuses on archaeological sites as tools for the protection of cultural
heritage and sustainable development. The purpose of this work is to describe and
highlight, through the literature review, this dual role of archaeological sites, both in
terms of protection of cultural heritage and sustainable development. As archeological
sites and their surroundings coexist with the natural and man-made environment, they
form interactive relationships with citizens. Therefore, the need to integrate
archaeological sites into modern social and economic life under the principle of
sustainable management and development is highlighted. In addition, through the case
study, an attempt is made to capture the issues that arise in practice in an effort to
maintain this balance between the protection of archaeological sites and the integration
of this protection into development policies. This becomes a complex task given that
under the principle of sustainable development, a balance must be accomplished
between the environment (natural, residential and cultural), society and the economy.
The work hopes to verify that, despite the difficult balance, it is possible for
archaeological sites to function both as tools for the protection of cultural heritage and
as tools for sustainable development.
