The object of the present work is the study of the measures taken for the recovery of the
post-Covid-19 era in the tourism sector, with the main purpose to examine their
adequacy and therefore to inform decision-making in the future, in order to extend and
to repeat policies that had a positive response and to redesign those measures that did
not meet the expectations. The methodology that was followed was the desk top review,
focusing on research, studies, announcements and articles in both international and
national press. The expectation is to show that the measures taken were sufficient for
the period March-September, 2020, in addressing in the short term the negative effects
of the pandemic on tourism but, in the same time, inadequate in the medium-long term.
After a relevance analysis and a comparative analysis with the case of Cyprus, findings
and proposals for interventions with a medium-long-term horizon are presented for the
recovery, but also for "rearrangement" of the country's tourism product and the overall
strengthening of the tourism economy.
