Abstract

This paper deals with emotional intelligence as a necessary element in the modern lead-ers of the wider Public Sector. The aim of the work, through the literature review, is to answer the research questions concerning what characteristics modern Leaders should have in the wider Public Sector, what is the importance of Emotional Intelligence and what are the benefits from it, and at the same time, with how it can be improved. Finally, a critical assessment is made of some conclusions around this issue. Therefore, the scientific value of this work is assessed in the organization of knowledge on this issue, while the practical value is assessed in understand-ing the importance and necessity of Emotional Intelligence, by the executives of the wider Pub-lic Sector and to apply the ways of improvement that were formulated.
