Επιτομή
The present work deals with the means and the way of exercising US cultural policy in Greece over time with emphasis on cultural heritage. It presents the role of Cultural Diplomacy in shaping a state's Foreign Policy, in particular US Cultural Diplomacy during the Cold War and the shaping of their cultural presence abroad in recent times. We examine the establishment and financing of institutions and individuals and the implementation of programs in the educational and cultural sector in Greece focusing on the American School of Classical Studies in Athens and its excavation activity in the Ancient Agora. We analyze the content and the results of the Memorandum of Understanding (2011) for the Greek cultural heritage between Greece and the USA as well as the course of its renewal in the coming years (2016 and 2021). Our study illustrates the three major Periodic Exhibitions organized in the USA (2013-2017) by the Ministry of Culture with works of cultural heritage from the Greek Museums. The research resources come from primary sources, bibliography, websites, press texts, discussions with specialists.
