Τhis thesis refers to the design of a cultural educational program about ancient theatre. The aim of the thesis is to explore the pedagogical value of cultural educational programmes and their advantages over traditional teaching. The methodology used in this research is the review of the international literature in order to make comparisons with other researches, identify research gaps and document its necessity. Cultural programmes utilize the cultural capital of each student, activate multiple intelligence and place the learner at the centre of the learning process. The design of a cultural educational program starts from the choice of topic according to the learning needs of the target group. Predetermined learning directions are followed. Cultural educational programmes are founded on the premises of modern pedagogical theories of knowledge and learning as well as modern pedagogical techniques – tools. The evaluation process gives feedback to the program designers by actively involving the trainees. The originality of the research lies in the connection of this educational program with the Local Government. The program is innovative as it focuses on tragedy, implicates the learners at an imaginary dialogue with the three historic tragic poets, ensures equal access of students with disabilities and realizes participatory planning using technology.
